It’s great to be working with the first year Business students at the University of Worcester on their module managing events to raise awareness, funds and provide services on behalf of local causes and charities. Funny Blood has been chosen alongside Acorns, St Richards Hospice, AgeUK (H&W), Fort Royal and Worcester Animal Rescue Shelter.

One of the students’ teams is undertaking’ 7 Challenges in 7 Weeks‘ which launched on Noah’s 7th birthday, 14 January 2015. The team came up with their award-winning idea when they found out that the human body is made up of 7% blood. The project went from there and is now gaining momentum to become one of our key campaigns for 2015!

On 14 January – Noah’s 7th birthday – the team launched their project with a warm-up at Pershore Tennis Centre to get ready for their first challenge, which was against ex-Davis Cup players Danny Sapsford and Luke Milligan on 17 January!

Their 3rd Challenge was at Rivers Fitness on 19 January, when the students ran 7 miles each. On 30 January, the team were on court with the Worcester Wolves and joined Park Farm Shoot on 4 February to raise awareness of Platelet Function Disorders.

We’ve received some great local support from Worcester News, Peter Luff MP,  YouthComm radio as well as Severn Trent Water, which all helps to spread the word about PFDs.

Tonight, we’re at training with Worcester City FC, next week cycling 7 miles and the final week, the challenges will culminate in 7 members of the team donating blood to NHS Blood and Transplant.
