Funny Blood has joined the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce who ”seek to work with its members and to be recognised as the authentic voice of business, the partner of choice for those agencies that wish to engage with business and to provide relevant services for a growing membership. Critical to this is the quality of the relationships that we have with our members and key partners at a local, regional and national level. If we aim to enhance the quality and added value of membership, we must engage with our members at a deeper level.”
Their mission is to “support our members to achieve the success that enhances the economic sustainability of the region. This will be delivered by acting as a key influencer, through communication, networking, representation and lobbying.”
Funny Blood looks forward to working with the Chamber in the future and loves the Members News items we’ve already featured in …
Funny Blood is (a local organisation) dedicated to raising awareness of a rare blood condition called Platelet Function Disorder. Funny Blood was founded by Ruby Edwards in 2009 to raise awareness of her son’s blood condition. Ruby’s son – Noah – was only one when he was diagnosed with the rare condition called Platelet Function Disorder with Thrombocytopenia.
Funny Blood also raises funds for research into the condition by The University of Birmingham’s Platelet Group. This is also funded by the British Heart Foundation and the Wellcome Trust. As part of the campaign (to raise awareness of Funny Blood,) Ruby and her family met the Prime Minister at 10 Downing Street in December 2010 joining in the Children of Courage Christmas Party. Since receiving nationwide media coverage, Funny Blood appeared on BBC Breakfast TV in April 2012. Ruby said that “appearing on BBC Breakfast TV was both an amazing and daunting experience, that has led to some fantastic offers of support from across the World”.
Funny Blood is hoping to become a Charitable Trust in 2012 – (with Rhys Humm of the Holywell Water Company and Cassie Bray from the Chamber aiming to become Trustees, as and when the Trust is incorporate) – and more details about Funny Blood can be found at www.funnyblood.co.uk.
